goofy markings on a white bass (pics)

got this one a couple of weeks ago anyone ever see this before?

almost looks like it got knocked pretty good by a prop.

this was actual pigment no discolor at all on the inside...

too bad it wasent the shape of mickey mouse I could have cashed in!

seen it more on LM...was told they're "protein spots" but who knows...

Maybe it was hanging out with those Racing Stripe Crappie!

It is melanistic pigmentation....seen quite often in LMB.

My guess is that it got a bacterial infection when someone caught it, handled it, and the protective slime the fish has on the skin got removed by the handling. Not that uncommon.

I think Slim is correct. You ought to send that picture to TPWD and see if they have seen that before in White Bass (trying to turn into a Black Bass, You're a bad white bass, bad!).

Those markings are actually a good sign. That will tell you the fish are healthy.
