Whitney Stripers from the bank

What creek has best bank access for Stripers. Years ago Helm's Point was a popular spot. Been years since I fished the lake.
Taking some company out to drown a minnow weather permitting. I suggested a guided trip if they were serious.

Bank fishing for stripers, unlikely successful, need a boat with electronics or a guide. Good luck.

Lots of places where you can catch stripers from the bank at Whitney, but your best bet by far is during the shad spawn in late-Spring. The stripers and sandies are both near the bank in very shallow water at that time. Anywhere you see the white birds lined up along the bank at that time, there's a good chance that there are stripers within casting distance.

I don't think that's going to happen right now because they are in deep water. Maybe in a couple of months up at Hamms Creek? That's technically not Whitney though. You could also go to the Whitney state park.

You MIGHT be able to hit deep enough water, at that ramp across the lake from McCown Valley park. I can't recall the name, but it starts with a C. We slaughtered them a month ago, from a boat all in that cove. If I recall correctly there's a couple spots at the edge of a channel you can hit from the bank that are close to 30 foot deep.

What piqued my interest. A young lady w/pic of some nice flsh said they were caught last year during a clear cold stretch at Whitney. She and her husband avid fishers were skeptical when the guide told them to wear waders. She either wasn't familiar w/the area or was keeping the loc. on the QT. They parked and walked to the water, guide said a boat would spook'em. She said they made long casts w/anything red and white. She was late had to run so I didn't get much info.

Most likely Cedron. Access has changed from my younger days when Grampa would rise early, check the barometer and load up his 39 Plymouth. Used the same Barlow knife to cut a plug of Tinsley that he used on a sail rabbit for catfish.

Thanks everybody...I'm going to borrow my sisters pontoon, launch at Hamm Ck. and head up river. Still curious about the wading story.

I haven't tried in a couple years, but if you can catch them on the right day. You might be able to wade out on the point that extends near the old boat ramp at the state park and cast into deep enough water. The stripers and sand bass will push the shad up on the point to feed. Like I said, not guaranteed, but it might be worth a try.

Must be like chasing crappie in cold water when you get a bright winter day. They come out of 25-30 ft to chase the baitfish trying to warm up. She said the guy used binoculars a lot. I figured he was looking for birds. Maybe he could see the baitfish gather from up top. B4 the big fish and birds. I'm of the opinion the sun brings the shad up as opposed 2 being driven.
