Central Texas Fishing Summary – Week of 03 - 09 January -- 155 Fish

TOTAL CATCH FOR THE WEEK: 155 FISH – 100% caught & released

TRIPS RUN: 2 trips

AVERAGE CATCH PER TRIP: 75.5 fish/trip

ONE SENTENCE SUMMARY: Our coldest weather to date this winter swept in early in the week and was then reinforced by a milder front late in the week, causing our greatest water temperature rate of decrease so far; winds and post-frontal conditions led to limited fishing this week with just one trip each on Belton and Stillhouse where a 5/8 oz. white Bladed Hazy Eye Slab was the star of the show worked vertically in conjunction with Garmin LiveScope.

TUESDAY AM PHOTO CAPTION: Top photo above: Clint and Chandler Zimmerhanzel worked 5/8 oz., white Bladed Hazy Eye Slabs under birds all morning this past Tuesday to put together an 80 fish catch in right at 4 hours. Bottom (above): Clint displays one of eleven largemouth bass we caught out in open water on these same slabs -- largemouth made up more than 13% of our catch.

WEDNESDAY AM PHOTO CAPTION: Dwight Stone of Georgetown, TX, fished with me on Stillhouse Hollow on Wednesday. A mild front shifted the winds at exactly 10:03A and made for better fishing in the last half of the morning than we experienced in the first half. He wound up with 75 fish.

FRIDAY PHOTO CAPTION: On Friday, my guide boat became a floating biology lab as researchers from Temple College came aboard to pull and measure water samples and zebra mussel samples on both Lake Belton and Stillhouse Hollow. Here, one of the researchers uses electronic calipers to measure the shell width of a zebra mussel.
