Ups and Downs on Lake Lewisville

Ups and Downs on Lake Lewisville - 09/08/21 10:39 PM

We went to Lake Lewisville twice in the last couple of weeks. We had one great trip and one not so great. A couple of weeks ago we fished from about 4-8pm and started at the gravel pits and caught some big ones on one hump in 20 FOW and when they slowed down, we found some smaller ones on another hump in the same area and left there when we hit 100 on the clicker … still biting. We looked at a couple of spots to the West of the dam but didn't see anything, so we went to the flats in front of Sneaky Pete's. We didn't mark much on the graph but there were a bunch of gulls hanging around so we figured something was about to happen so we stayed and then about 7:15pm the dinner bell rang and a big school moved in and we were catching triples just about every cast until dark. Final count was 202 on the clicker. We caught the fish on Mepps #4, MAL (new MAL Heavy with white blade and chartreuse blade), and my dad even caught some on a slab just to get some practice. We used the sawtooth retrieve method and caught some dropping them straight down. We went to the same spots the next week and only caught about 10 fish total … we tried Mepps #4, #2, and MAL … tough day!
