Lake Belton – The week in review – 723 fish
For the 7-day span from Oct. 20th to Oct. 26th, I fished with 5 parties.
Observations:
1. The morning bite is currently longer and stronger than the afternoon bite.
2. “Playing” the fronts so as to be fishing in pre-frontal conditions or prior to calm, bright post-frontal conditions is helpful.
3. No helpful bird activity has yet materialized.
4. Post-turnover consolidation of fish on deep topography is evident.
5. With low-70F water, fish are taking fast-moving baits.
6. Of these 723 fish landed, 118 came on downriggers, 580 came on the MAL Lure, and 25 were taken otherwise.
7. Some uncertainty lies ahead thanks to this week’s extended cold spell.
