Anyone ever tried the Jello Chicken for stripers? - 10/27/20 03:20 AM

Going to try and go striper fishing on Sunday, and don't know if I'll be able catch any shad. But I have a big one left in the freezer, I can use for cut bait. Also going to bring some black salties. Thought since they have a similar appetite for natural baits as catfish I'd try some jello chicken instead of cut bait for them too. I know people catch them on livers. Figured it would be worth a shot to drop at least one line down with jello chicken.

Just curious if anyone else has tried it.

I have caught lots of stripers on cut bait. Chicken should also work. Once you find the fish, let the chicken drift down slowly like a shad that is dead. A long strip will probably work better than a big chunk. Let us know how you do.

I've had days when it works better than live or cut shad for catfish, and striper have similar tastes. Figured it's worth a try.

If you out fished fresh (not frozen) shad for [Blue] Catfish with chicken and kool aid, then you better go play the lottery.

Last Sunday on Eagle Mountain I caught 2 blue on live shad, 0 on cut shad, 14 on Garlic Jello chicken 3 on Vanilla Jello chicken, and 4 on Jello Garlic hotdogs. Was fishing all bait at the same time, and all fish were caught in one spot. No monster fish at all, but lots of nice box fish.

Got my butt handed to me today on Granbury, only caught two fish, all day. One on Galic Jello chicken, and one on a nightcrawler, was fishing every bait under the sun too, Live and cut shad, live bluegill, nightcrawlers, punch bait, shrimp, chicken, garlic jello hot dog, even tried that gulp artificial junk someone gave me.

the fact remains the same if we don't have a line in the water no mater the bait we don't stand a chance to catch a fish
