Canyon Lake 08.23.20 - 08/24/20 06:52 PM
I moved down here about 7 years ago to take a new job. That new job consumed me for 6 years. Now in a new job that allows time to go fishing
Recently my fishing has been more doodling with my new electronics than actually fishing. With trip #3 or 4 and after a movement of my transducer, I finally got some good images on my new unit and learning how to use the new stuff.
Got on the water a little after 7
After pushing buttons for an hour I went looking for fish. Found some.
8 a.m they were at 40ft. By 9a they moved to 60ft. Once they went to 60, they started to have a hard time going back down after the release so I stopped. I had no interest in killing fish just so that I could have a little fun so I stopped. I put 4 in the box but could have easily kept another if I wanted. Every fish I caught was 20 - 22 in length and fairly healthy looking.
All fish caught on slabs. Had a dead stick fluke set out at 35ft but never any takers.
They wanted the bait on the move. All caught on the upward retrieve of fishing vertical except for one. He must have been yawning and my slab dropped right in his mouth because that 1.5oz slab was deep in his throat.
Tried worming the bait back to the boat but never any takers. Vertical was the ticket that day.
I couldn't remember how to take a screen shot so I had to go old school and shoot a pic of the unit.
