Is it legal or illegal to tie a line and a balloon to a striper and follow it to stay with the school?

I'm sure there's probably a reg, statute, or code that makes it illegal. But that's just wrong to do in the first place - would think that kind of continuous stress would kill the fish.

Nevermind, took me about ten seconds to find the answer. Yes, it's illegal.

Tagging Fish

Although it is legal to place an identification tag (use caution as tags can damage fish) on the exterior of a fish and release it back into public waters, it is unlawful to release a fish with a device or substance implanted or attached to produce an audible, visual, or electronic signal used to monitor, track, follow, or in any manner aid in locating it.

Well, there you go. I guess I was searching using the wrong keywords. Thank you. This settles a recent discussion regarding whether this is legal or not.
