Cedar Creek Fishing Report 5.6.2020, with my Grandson - 05/08/20 04:20 PM
I had a chance to take my grandson fishing on Wednesday , no wind, water 74, perfect day . 7am , we headed to Pitts Point , usually the retaining wall is good in May . My Grandson was throwing a 1/2 ounce rattle trap , green and orange belly. I throwing #4 Mepps , next to the wall. We caught 10 fish and decided to move back into the creek . Next stop , East Hump, scouting the area with the Lowrance HDS Live , we found a large school of fish in 17FOW and more on the drop in 20 FOW, my grandson was fishing with a Cotton Cordell small jigging spoon and 1/8 ounce , chartreuse jig up above . It was game on , he was catching doubles , singles, I was using #4 Mepps, vertical , turning the reel handle 2 or 3 turns. There for a while all I did was take fish off my grandson line . To much fun for this guy !!! There was another boat approaching so we invited them over to join in the large school of fish . They were from Red Oak , Texas , Bennie and two friends , as the fish slowed , I told Bennie we were moving to Number 13 , and to come with us. I pulled up in 17FOW , and there was another large school of fish. The other boat was catching a lot of fish, most of their fish were caught on slabs, I was still using #4 Mepp's, vertical and dragging it. My grandson was still using the spoon and jig. We stopped fishing at 12:30, we gave the other boat 30 fish , not counting all the fish that were released , over two limits of sand bass , and 4 cats. My grandson had a great day ,
