Tawakoni on 4/25/2020 with SeaPro Todd - 04/28/20 06:01 AM

We met up at Tawakoni for a day of fishing. On the lake by 9:45 AM and at 1st spot - Finger Point - by 9:50. Searched all the fingers with sonar and sides-can and no fish. Did the same at Anchor Point and west end of 2-mile bridge and no fish. Wind was about 20 mph from the north but we dealt with the big waves to go to Greenville Pump Station - and no fish. Believing it would be too windy on east side we went back to west side to Figure 8. We found a few there and caught about 5 fish. Next we tried the shore around the corner south from the State Park and nothing. Heavy waves there to boot. It seemed we were taking on heavy waves no matter which side of the main lake we were on. Finally we looked at map of the whole lake in relation to wind direction and concluded that the east side would be more protected from the north wind and headed to Cloud Point.

There were several boats spread out there and we eased through them looking for fish on the graph. Nothing. Then a boat that was moving up wind to get to a spot and drift back over the point told us they were catching fish in 6 to 15 fow drifting. So, we spot-locked at 6 fow and started casting. Two and a half hours later we had caught over 60 fish on that spot. An hour before having to leave we checked Greenville Pump Station Hump again and still nothing there. We ended the day at Harbor Point and Finger Point again checking the shallower pattern this time and caught about 10 more. So, for the day we ended up with 61 whites, 4 short hybrids, 1 short striper and 13 yellow bass.

Thanks to a fellow fisherman we had a decent day. Electronics couldn't find the fish!

Here's a couple of picks:

Perseverance paid off, especially when tossing Mepps into the wind. Good thread.

Spot on report, DC! Mucho thanks for the invite! Had a great time huntN and meppN with ya! Lake was white capN all day Saturday but we made the best of it and did well imo. DC got a new pretty, very clean, and more importantly very functional skeeter boat. The only ppl I know who hated DC's boat are the sandies and hibbies. Lol

Twok got GOOD sandies cheers

Good observations, Greg! Fyi DC is master of positioning his boat relative to the fish and wind. We cast with the wind 90%of the time wink wink. Also another good tip about DC's catching skill, he spent mucho time scaning and huntN (points and structures) The "easier" catching part is the consequent. wink Hope that helps a few out there. smile
