A little of this and that on Richland Chambers

I finally was able to take a long time friend fishing who had been a care-giver to his elderly mom until her passing last year. I told him no guarantees but I went and got several dozen minnows and headed for the 287 bridge area. We caught some crappie, sand bass, hybrids, catfish, drum and even yellow bass all in the same area !!!

Filleted the sand bass and crappie all full of eggs. The yellow bass were all about 5”-8” long ( which I didn’t know RC even had).
All in all a good day!

Blue cats are good up shallow on punch bait and on cut shad drifted over deep water near the dam and the water intake. Also some channel cat reported over baited holes in 12-14 feet.Crappie fishing still good up Chambers Creek at the I-45 service road. Lots of bank fishing going on.

Richland Chambers is an excellent choice for anglers seeking catfishes, crappie, white bass or hybrid stripers. Angling for largemouth bass can be very good where anglers can find vegetation and clear water; however, these areas are somewhat limited in size compared to the lake surface. Many anglers set jug lines for catfishes and go after schooling white bass and hybrids while waiting for jug line action. Richland Chambers produces abundant crappie (both black and white) and may be area's the most consistent fishery for these fishes.
