What is the best trolling motor for a 24 ft bay boat?
Thanks

Consider what brand graph you have or will have, and if you plan to link the TM to the graph. I would definitely get a 36V no matter what brand or model you choose. I prefer Minn Kota and I run Humminbird graphs, they will match up. I have had a Motor Guide motor, and it was pretty good as well. It would not put out the same amount of power the MK would, and it was a noticeable difference. Lowrance and Garmin just brought out some motors as well. I don’t know anyone that has one, so I cannot give any experience on them.

The boat I’m getting has a simrad and motor guide xi5 gps. I just am not sure about the motor guide. Thinking of having dealer change it out.

Nothing wrong with the Xi5 just make sure its a 36vdc for a boat that size. I have a 22' bay boat with a 80# Xi5 and with a pair of group 31 batteries I have no problem what so ever. Get the gateway kit to link it to the Simrad so you can control it from there.

Sounds like a good setup, I would run it.

Thanks for info. It is 36 volt and is linked to simrad. I think I will try as is.

Just like taking a test , your first answer is normally correct . Stick with what you have .

Big motor guide xi5 fan here. I'd go with a 36v 60" shaft for your boat.

I have a 24' CC and run a 60" 36v XI5 and love it. The only change I would make is to get a 72" shaft which was no offered when I purchased mine.

the motorguide should be fine, on 22-24’ center consoles the important thing is that you’re running a 36v that is 100+ lb thrust. One thing I would check is that it’s foot control. The hand control motors are almost impossible to use.

I have a new 24ft bay boat with the 112# ulterra and a 12" Solix Mega SI/DI running I-pilot link. I spend so much more time fishing and not keeping control of the boat now.

I would try that setup before buying anything else. You might need to go to the 36v. If keeping the Simrad I would stay with Xi5 since you are already setup for it. I have a 21' Triton bass boat with the 24v Xi5 and when kicked on high it can try to dump me out of the boat, holds good on open water in strong wind.....but the bay boat may need a bit more power. I always use the remote or the graph to control the TM, hate foot controls cluttering up the deck and tying me to the front deck.

Thanks for all the input. It is 36v. Going to keep it and simrad. Picking up sea pro 248 Thursday.
