Nueces

Nueces - 12/12/18 09:35 PM

I'm sure I'm early in asking, but has anyone taken a look at the Nueces below Choke Canyon lately? With the recent rains I'm hoping there is a decent flow near Airport ramp. Is the second week in January too early to try for the white bass?

Thanks.....Richard

Read throught that thread in freshwater reports that you bumped, You will find that the 2nd week in January is NOT too early historically.

Was there earlier this week. It's high and off color, with lots of debris in the water. Not much bait to be found either. Worst day on the river in years.

Some good fishing in January as they come out of lake and start the journey up river. Hopefully the river settles down and returns to that emerald green color as the run heats up later. smile Rio

I haven’t personally been on the Nueces yet. I do follow some groups on other social media and they are already posting pics with good stringers from the Nueces. 3 man limit was caught today. South of 59 trolling seems to be the method they are using.

Looks like some time in middle of January should be good to go.
