Cedar Creek Report 5/26 & 27 - 05/28/18 06:32 PM

Got on the lake at daylight each day. 5/26 , started off at the popular flats/hump outside of the Gun Barrel public ramp in 17 FOW and caught a few nice white bass . Left there and went towards the dam end of the lake to the house with the tennis court and anchored in 7 FOW and was throwing into about 15/17 FOW and caught several fish there. Ended the day there with lots of 10 inch fish ( approx. 20 or so and all thrown back ) and several bigger ones. Ended with 26 nice keepers in total . Stayed out till around 10:30 ish. 5/27 , Started at same popular flats/hump as day before with no luck. Went back to tennis court , and no luck. Came back to first spot around 8:00 and anchored in 16 FOW and steadily caught fish every/every other cast for a solid hour. Ended with 29 keeper white bass , 3 legal Hybrids and one short hybrid along with several smaller white bass. All fish caught with a # 4 silver Mepps ( Thank you again Mr. Dennis Christian ) casting and using a slow but steady yo-yo type retrieve back to the boat letting the Mepps fall to the bottom and turning reel approx. 6 cranks and letting fall back to bottom .

We had some luck back on Long Ridge on Saturday. Probably caught 25-30.

We also caught quite a few at the Number 13(FF) spot on Dennis' map. This is near the 198 bridge(short bridge) north of log cabin. I did see a boat with two guys trolling over that location. They had a fish marker in the water and were going over it for about half an hour, catching fish on most passes. A guy in another boat pulled up about 3 feet from their marker and threw his anchor in. At one point their marker was under his boat. The other two guys gave him a WTF and had to retrieve their marker with a landing net since it was basically under his boat. I couldn't hear what was being said, but the two guys left after a few harsh words.

There is no love lost between trollers and anchorers. Saw it many times at Lake Livingston in the 70's through the 90's.

Haven’t been to cedar creek in years
Do you suggest the big chief public ramp?

For the boat you have , ( read your question to Dennis Christian ) I would suggest you launch at the public ramp in Caney City on 198 or the Log Cabin ramp. That would be a much shorter boat run to more flats and humps and also deeper water.
