Lake Waco

Any reports for sandies at Waco? I usually fish Whitney, but i can be on waco in 10 minutes! Still trying to learn Waco. Also any crappie advice would be great! I love this site, been following it for a while now! All of the tips y’all post have been greatly appreciated! I’ll be sure to share any tips I come across!

Triton cc: I have fished Lake Waco several times, but not this year yet. I can tell you I've had great success at three structures: the old Hwy 6 roadbed - especially east of the river channel, the old dam - which is about 100 yards south of new dam - again especially on the side east of the river channel and the many undulating structures west of the old dam. I have also fished the bubbles at the dam but didn't catch much. Hope this helps.

Thanks I appreciate it. That seems to be the main spots with other people I have talked to. And I am with you on the bubbles, been there several times but never caught anything. There is also a hump just northeast of koehne Park I have fished and had some success there. Thanks for the input.

Triton CC: Don’t forget about Lacey Point, I have had success there in varying water depths depending on time of the year. They are in 35 feet of water right now next to river channels up the north Bosque but before the big bend to the NW. We also have caught them in 35 feet of water around the old HWY 6 road bridge just a few weeks ago. Bring your thumper and it will help bring in the hybrids and keep the whites interested. We have had great success on the bubbles, need a south wind and need to be there real early or real late but only when the water is warm (65 degrees or warmer). Rooster tails (white and silver) or Bomber white slabs do the trick. Caught 100+ at the bubbles on multiple outings. Waco is a great white bass lake. Go to TPWD website and download the crappie house location GPS points onto your graph.

Thanks for that info on Waco. Ive never really tried much for white bass, but hear it is about to kick off something fierce... When do you think they will make their run?
