Whitney still good

Whitney still good - 12/12/17 05:26 PM

Cool still morning, warm light wind afternoon. Started South of the island and did pretty good with slabs in 25fow. Good size and decent numbers of fish. Moved around and caught fish at every spot, some on the flats some on structure all in the 20-30fow range. Most came right off the bottom some suspended. No need to dead stick yet, water temp 58 degrees. Fishing was good, size was good, caught a few stripers but nothing big. Steady but no big schools all day until we moved to the bluffs where we graphed some good bumps on the bottom in 31fow, started thumping and the fun began. Huge school moved under us, 2-4 fish almost every drop for quit a while. What a way to end the day.

Very nice Steve. We have started thumping up fish deadsticking on Ray Hubbard this past weekend. I think it is finally here.

The last three trips Steve and I have made to Whitney have been outstanding. I love those double doubles we have been catching. I appreciate Steve making the long trip from the Dallas area to fish Whitney. It is only a 25 minute drive for me........thanks STEVE for all the time you have spent on the road..........P.S. he is a very good fisherman.

Johnny- I don't talk much so I can listen to the best fishermen in the metroplex. And I remember one time at Texoma with Chris that you were speechless when you hooked a big Striper.

Yes the drive to Whitney is long but worth it. I know we will have the opportunity to catch fish and even if we don't the experience is worth it. Rob and I are a team with three goals in mind: find fish, catch fish, have fun and we have for many years.

Thumping - using a pole or your foot to "thump" the bottom of the boat.
You can also build an automatic thumper using a low speed 12v motor, a cam and a rubber hammer. I used a windshield wiper motor and a motor control module to set the speed.
Or you can also buy one from jbobo - www.bobosthumper.com

Fish can't hear but they can feel the vibrations.

Your welcome badun.
Forgot to mention that we saw very few birds and none were working.
No help from our feathered friends.
