My attempt at hand tied jigs

My attempt at hand tied jigs - 11/28/17 03:43 AM

I have been working on these hand tied jigs. I think that I've finally getting it figured out. Can't wait to try it out on some Hybrids or Stripers. There are 3 jig weights, 3/8, 1/2, AND 1 OZ.

I added the stinger hooks for the larger ones for two reasons. 1 in case of short strikes and 2 it adds a lot of wiggle to the back end of the jig. These really look great in the water.

Those are very cool! Make sure you use super glue on your stinger hooks. We tie steelhead flies with a loop of wire and change out stinger hooks! Google intruder steelhead flies and look at some videos! Very cool jigs!

I watched some YouTube videos on steelhead and muskey flies, that's where I got the idea to use the stinger. I am using a 40lb wire, a bead, and a fish joint just like most of those flies use. I can take the stingers off or replace them.

The tape was a 30 footer that the end broke off of. I just cut up some 12" pieces of it to use for a stick measure.

Need to make a white one like these white crappie jigs from Giltmore tackle. If I could get these in 1/4 and 1/2 oz I would buy them. The material has a iridescent chartreuse flash that looks just like a shad in clear water. Slaughtered crappie on this at PK this past year and sand bass, small stripers and LM Bass also hammered it.

Here's what I came up with on a 3/8oz jig. White fibers in the tail and body are UV treated. In the water it will glow.
