Nueces Canyon-Sabinal Valley . Fishing with an Outstanding Angler! - 10/18/17 07:04 PM
Had both the pleasure and honor to fish for two full days with Andrew aka Fitz. Andrew is one "OUTSTANDING" fly angler not to mention his love for wildlife and the outdoors. We fished in both the Sabinal Valley and the Nueces Canyon not to mention a South Texas Creek. We fished from sunup to sunset both Sunday and Monday. We caught good numbers of Longear,Large Mouth Bass,Guadalupe Bass,Bluegill,Redbreast, Redear,Rios, and a very nice Channel Cat. A lot of the fish were in the half pound range. The morning bites were slow due the colder weather. Once the warmer temperatures started to set in the afternoon bite was on fire with plenty of fish on the move. Fish were bunched by weed and grass beds in shallow water 2 to 4 feet deep. I was using ultralight spinning gear with worms and Gulp Alive Worms. Andrew was using several fly rods with numerous type flies. It's amazing to me to watch a fly angler in action. Andrew was making some "Pin Point Cast" with great bait presentations. You could tell he had a good fish on by the bending of his rod. All fish were released to fight again. Andrew took a couple of fish back with him, in his live tank for his aquarium. Sharing the great outdoors fishing some super bodies of water, with a good friend. It just don't get any better!
