White River Longear

White River Longear - 10/13/17 06:00 PM

Had some work in Little Rock. Fished on my drive up and on my drive back. There is a different strain of Longear up there, the White River Longear and from the pictures you will see they look different. They are the dominate sunfish in the creeks and rivers. They have an attitude, lots of fun to watch them swim out from under cover and hit the fly. Also managed a few Greens, BG's, Redear, Spotted Bass and a Redhorse. They sure grow them pretty up there!

Yep, those Longears in northern Ark, and Southwest Missouri are outstanding fish. That was my childhood stomping grounds and provided many hours of enjoyment from those beautiful fish. They also have a lot of beautiful pumpkinseeds.

Outstanding pictures.

Thanks guys. They are a lot of fun. I plan to target a few different species (Ozark, Shadow, Rock, Smallmouth and Pumpkins) next time I'm up there.

Those are some beautiful fish. Longear are my favorite to catch especially on a 3wt Flyrod.
