First Trip of the Year to the Great Southwest!

Made a trip to the Great Southwest and fished three SUPER rivers in two days. Fished the Nueces River,West Nueces River and the Sabinal River. All three rivers are in good shape with lots of crystal clear water and good current. The bite was good both days on all three rivers. Caught Longear,bass,Bluegill,Redear,and Tilapia on both the Nueces and West Nueces Rivers. Also caught my second Rio of the year on the Nueces River. Fish were caught using worms with both bottom and float techniques being used. Fish were holding close to grass beds and brush piles. On the Sabinal River I caught some nice Redear,a nice Bass,and a couple of Redbreast. Worms were the bait of choice with a bottom technique being used. Fish were holding close to tree overhangs and grass beds. All fish were released. Also saw a bunch of Turkeys looking for their mate. Spending time in the Great Southwest. It just don't get any better!

Nice fish Chuck. Looks like a super trip. Will be fishing the Frio next month.(Mid April). Hope to fish the Sabinal during the summer. Again super post.




Side Note: Ever catch any Tilapia off of the Frio? Also any current reports?

Thanks Curtis for the reply! Never caught a Tilapia off of the Frio. I did catch some nice sunnies this past fall. I also had a HUGE bass chasing a Bluegill I had hooked. That river has some very nice fish. As for current reports I have not heard any. Scoped out your trip on Google. You guys should have a blast. Let me know how you all do.

Picked up an half inch this morning of rain. It has been a nice wet spring so far.
