One of the coolest looking hybrids I have ever caught. Rionator's fish could eat a 1/2 dozen and still be hungry

Awesome Rio's! Dunlap?

Love the pics!

The one Robert "Dafanman" is holding is the current weight record for the Colorado River. The one I am holding was a nice prior Dunlap Lake Record.

This one is the current WORLD RECORD Rio Grande Cichlid which was caught on Lake Dunlap!

WOW: "Fitz" that has to be the most colorful Sunfish I have ever seen. One beautiful fish for sure.


Side Note: What type. To me it looks like a hybrid/Longear.

I caught that beauty in a creek in near Malvern Arkansas, it's a Missouri Longear. Different than what we have in TX.

There was a north wind tonight. The cool wind and low, stable barometric pressure resulted in a great sunfish and bass bite. I love fly fishing with Betts Fancy poppers.

Took my newest Tenkara Rod to a local pond yesterday known for some big coppernose gills. Had a great time. Here is one of the larger fish caught.

Big Pond Bluegill on a 4 weight fly rod and size 8 olive Briminator. Great fun!!!!

Crystal clear water, moss, hydrilla covered pond, Pods of bass visible all over the pond.

Nice pics Rudy. Rooster tails are fish catching works of art.

It became my "go to" spinner years ago! Catches any and everything. I was telling my fishing buddy Jose on Monday that it even catches channel cats this time of year. He said, "yeah, right!" So about 20 minutes or so AFTER i told him that, sure enough, he hooks and lands a 3 lb channel. He is a believer now.

All fish today were caught on that white one you see in the pics.

Hey Rudy I know you said you didn't want to clutter(sorry for the delay just caught up on the pages)But much like the fly fishing section the bluegill/sunfish section is a close knit group of guys. I really like the idea of an in house so to speak pics thread. Some of us are so tied to the sections that an angler we may not know we follow. If they had some great off topic photos and just put in the photo/ video forum most of the people they interact with here may miss a really cool memory that was being shared. So go on and post up those barn doors and swamp donkeys and hey I have to add they are sunfish too.....

Awesome: Love those Rios. If your fishing in your area you have some mighty fine Rios. I was fishing both the Frio and Nueces a couple of weeks ago for several days and caught some very nice Rios. Also nailed some Tilapia. Again super fish Sir!

yes the rios and gills were from the west prong of the nueces here on the ranch. the buff and flathead came from the nueces by crystal city and the goo came from amistad

And this is my first perch i caught out of the West Prong of the Nueces with my fly fishing reel
That was fun, i finally kept the fly in the water long enough for that perch to bite. Not very good at fly fishing need more practice.

No i didnt and yes that was my first longear on a fly. I just need more practice.

Here is an alligator gar i caught and broke my own record for body of water this one was 83in.
I caught this bass in the west prong of the nueces and set a record for body of water also
Chuck was there when i caught it. Caught this flat head out of the frio

PB Rio caught on a hand tied jig. Caught it this past weekend (10-27-19)
