A Good Day on Live Oak Lake and the Santa Clara Creek ! - 04/03/14 11:18 PM
Fished the other day at the Santa Clara Creek and Live Oak Lake. The bite was good. Started at the Santa Clara Creek and fished form 10am till 12noon. Caught a few greens and two Carp. The biggest Carp was about 20 inches in length and got off as I was attempting to get it on the bank. The second was smaller about 15 inches. Both Carp were caught on the float using worms. The greens were caught off of the bottom. Fish were in 3 to 5 feet of water. The Creek was in good condition. I then headed to Live Oak Lake and fished from 1pm till 5:30pm. The bite started out super slow but I was able to find some hungry fat Bluegill and Redear. Caught well over 30 fish. Noting big but a lot of "fryer" size(7 to 8 inches). Fish were caught using both float and bottom techniques. Worms and Berkley Power worms were used. Fish were in shallow water about 2 to 3 feet deep. All above fish were released. The lake is in good condition. A great day of creek and community lake fishing. It don't get any better!
