A Mighty Fine Summer!

A Mighty Fine Summer! - 08/11/23 04:34 AM

The "Dog Days" of summer have been pretty good. Due to the heat I have adjusted my hours from day light to about 11am for most trips. Been fishing ponds, creeks, and hill country rivers. All of the water bodies I have been fishing need RAIN. The bite has been very good throughout the summer and continues to be good as of this date. Been catching most of my fish next to heavy grass beds in 4 to 6 feet of water. Worms with both bottom and float techniques were used. Catching good quality Redbreast, Bluegill, and Hybrid Sunfish. Also catching a few Rios, and bass. Sunfish are in the 7 to 10 inch range. Rios in the 9 to 10 inch range and the bass are in the 12 to 19 inch range. I have also been targeting catfish and carp with good results while fishing the rivers. Worms, corn, and dough bait were the baits used. Here are a few of the fish that I and some of my friends have caught. Summertime fishing. It just don't get any better! fish

Looks like a good summer for sure. Good job Chuck. What effect did the drought have on your fishing?

Re: A Mighty Fine Summer! - 10/09/23 03:26 AM

Thanks Gitter for the reply. Yes Sir the drought played a big factor on my fishing this year. Some of my best places were not fishable and still are. I do have some places that have held up and have supplied good quality fish through the year. All of the places I fish on a regular basis need a lot of RAIN! Praying for a nice WET fall, winter, and spring. thumb
