Well, we finally made it out. Fishing around the south side of little ridge park. We found them on trees in 2 to 4 fow. Fished them with nightcrawlers on slip bobbers. biggest was almost 6 inches on the outside edge of the trees. Kept the boat in 5 fow. Learned real quick that there are plenty of small catfish in 6 fow by the trees.

Thanks for sharing fshnbassbro. Did you try any other spots on Lavon? I too have been looking for big 'gills and haven't been able to find them

It's been years ago, but the trees out from what was called Tricky Creek Park - (on the west side of the east arm of the lake) had some good bluegill fishing. I think you catch bigger ones on crickets over worms, but that's just me. We were probably using worms, and the gills were not what I'd call big ones, but they were a mix of little ones 3-4" up to hand size. We also caught some decent ones on jigs while fishing for crappie in that same standing timber. If I remember we were probably fishing trees that were in 15' or so of water.
