Has anybody been out fishing around north texas lakes lately and catching any big bluegills? Are they up on their beds spawning yet? I would think with these super hot days we are having that they are getting ready and it is getting close. The spawning time is my favortie time of the year to target bluegills especially from shore. I love catching big bluegills from the bank up shallow. They are easy to catch and can catch a bunch of them too. Plus they are really good to eat. Love eating panfish.
Do not know about North Texas but the Bluegill down here (South Central Texas) have started to spawn. Catching good numbers in creeks. Nest are by grass beds in about 3 to 4 feet of water. Using worms. Both with a float and without a float.

From the report on Belton (not exactly North Texas) but:
With the recent warmup, sunfish are now in the shallows to stay, and bass are becoming reliable on small, dark soft plastics fished on jigheads in the timbered coves. Report by Bob Maindelle, Holding the Line Guide Service

Looking at the resent post, I would say the spawn is on.
