FCL 5-6-2022 - 05/07/22 03:36 PM

Left the Jon boat in the shed and hit the water with my brother-in-law Robert, from New Braunfels, in his custom pontoon. We spent the past few months tricking it out with a new Minn Kota Ultrex trolling motor, Lowrance HDS live electronics and more.
Now to the fishing. Got into the water around 10:30 and our first spot produced a load, moved about 300’ and found some more willing participants. At that moment we had caught around 50 and had a dozen in the bucket for dinner. All others were returned for Doc, Steve and others to play with.
We ended up finding three more spots within throwing distance of each other. Some of our usual places were not active. Not sure how many we ended up with since I left my counter at home. (can't remember everything LOL) All fish were caught on gulp alive minnows (chartreuse, emerald shiner, smelt).
Oh, I should mention we caught a couple of small bass which put up a fight on that light tackle.

thanks Banker & Steve. Glad to see the little guys out in the playgrounds again after the long fall break. I have been getting a little better at finding those crappies. Still have a lot to learn.
Now that the gills are back, will probably give the crappie a break.
