FCL 1-17-22

FCL 1-17-22 - 01/18/22 03:04 AM

What a beautiful day...sunny & very light wind. Water temp in the low 60s in the areas I fished today. Expected the lake to be packed , but pleasantly surprised when I pulled in the parking lot around 8:30 and only saw 10 trucks. Fished from around 9 am til 5:15 and ended up wit 39 fish...3 bluegill & 36 bass. Biggest bass was 4.27 lbs & the biggest gill was the one in the pic. Fished for sunfish for about an hour today and caught the 3 very quickly...then the bass took over the spot & just tore up the Gulp Alive on the ultra lite & 4 lb test...lots a fun. Doc was supposed to go today but feeling under the weather again... [Linked Image]

Great post and fish Steve
I was on Sommerville lake Monday. Spent most of the day marking brush piles but I did catch a striper and large crappie.

May wait for a little warmer weather and I need to perform some pasture maintenance next week and burn some powder as you can see below lol. Hoping to see a string of 60+ degree highs and hit FCL right before a front. Stay safe out there.

Scott...Looks like they really like being "fed". Kinda looks like the good hay as well (Alfalfa) ?

Steve. As many years and as many times you fish there what map work do you have to do?

Tom...Over the years I have always worked off of a paper map I bought in the 1970s. Modern technology and the new interactive maps (Navionics) take it to a hold new level.

Nice catch. I was on the lake the same day testing out livescope. Had a few hours delay due to forgetting a 1 foot adapter cable. Thank goodness for the wife. Fished from 1230 to 4. Tried a few offshore spots with no luck (had a few take the bait off my hook). Ended the day in a group of trees. Man, so many fish in the trees that you wouldn't even know were there.
Watched a 5 lbs bass eat my bait on the screen for my first livescope catch. I'll remember that forever. Most of the fish though were not interested in my jumbo brushhog. Made me wish I had a dropshot/spinshot set up on my ultra light with gulp to see what it was. Can't wait to put my 6yr old on some perch this year with it. His cousin still has the Jr. Bluegill record which we plan to break!
