Cold front= hot crappie bite - 10/19/21 04:57 AM
First cold front of the year, two weeks ago we were catching Rios. With this cold front it turned the Crappie on. We were bouncing 1/8oz JIGLYF jigs on the bottom, the Crappie would hit the jig with a hard thump some were up against stumps and hitting our jig on the fall. There was also little green bush growing from some of the laydowns and there was always a Crappie in front of one.
There was big schools of shad so we matched the hatch and we were using silver, blue, white.
We found a few Rios still biting also a few small sunfish. We also caught a gasper gou, warmouth, channel cat and a few bass.
Leo caught two Blacknose Crappie
Leo fished with 1/32 and 1/8 and I fished with 1/8oz JIGLYF jigs. Most fish were released to swim another day.
Some were kept to feed hungry bellies.
