San Marcos rio ? - 10/01/21 02:34 AM

I have to go to a class for work in November in San Marcos
I have never caught a rio and would like to check it off the list
Any advice would be great

They will eat worms or jigs better ? I’m guessing my ultra light rod and 4 pound line will work ?

Worms will work fine. Depending how cold it will be getting between now and November will play a huge factor in finding any Rios. Usually after the first strong cold front blows through the Rio bite shuts down. Rios are warm weather fish and can't survive in cold weather climate. I have caught a lot of Rios over the years in the San Marcus River especially in the Lockhart, Lulling area. Best months for catching Rios are from August through Mid October. By November Rios are hard to find. They get into their hibernation mode thumb
