This weekend we fished 3 different parts of the Nueces. There were bait fish for days all size of shad and also schools of minnows. The water was also pretty hot and brown. Hope this rain benefits the river because it really needs it.
We really had to work our jigs to compete with all the bait out there. So in order to catch fish we tied on a blue head 1/16 oz jig with silver body. We caught crappie anywhere we found hydrilla, they were down about 10ft. Hopping the jig on the bottom got the best results.
We were catching bass, rios, sunfish, casting at the bank at over hanging trees and limbs and any shady area. We were catching them on 1/32 oz jigs.
Except for this little guy with a big appetite.
We kept a few crappie and sunfish for a midweek meal
I forgot to put this pretty spotted gar i caught.
