Fished Fayette County Lake yesterday from 8 am to 7 pm with Doc. Water temp started out at 67 degrees in most areas & ended the day at 75.6 degrees. The water level is on the rise as many of the stumps visible last week are now under water. As the water temp heated up, so did the bite. Our best bites have been coming in the second half of the day all year so far. The bluegill bite is still slow and inconsistent, but it's not far off. Last year at this time it was in full swing, but the water temp was 5-10 degrees warmer. We ended up with 5 sunfish, 37 bass & 1 talapia. Doc (Chris) caught his PB for the second week in a row (5 lb 13 oz). All caught on swimbaits, soft plastics & Gulp Alives. Doc caught his fat girl on a new "illegal" bait...the Gulp Alive worm...you can see the bait in one of the pics.
Yesterday the whole gang was there...Tom (Tomrom), Alan (Choclabdog) & Scott (Atxguy) all caught fish even with the slow start due the the cool front passage & bluebird skies... Really looking forward to the Sunfish bite picking up...those Green Carp just wear me out ! (Advil time)
