Fayette 1/26/21 - 01/27/21 02:52 AM

Great to be back on the water...Wasn't sure how the tendonitis would respond ...Can't swing a golf club without pain, but casting is ok...that's a good thing ! Hit the water at 8:00 am and fished until 5:00 pm. End the day with 37 bass & 6 sunfish. Started out the day catching those 6 gils & thought they were back big time...nope, that was the only 6 I caught all day...they must have been "love scouts"...coming in to search for the ideal areas to set up their spawning beds. On the brighter side...the bass were very active today. I saw people catching bass everywhere I went. My biggest was maybe 4.5 lbs, but caught a lot of nice 2-3 pounders. I fished timber most of the day, but I believe they were biting everywhere. There were tons of boats out today...Don't these people have jobs ? Oh well...in a few month when it is hitting 100 degrees I will have the lake to myself violin [Linked Image]

Great post Steve and some very solid fish. Love seeing a Fayette Bluegill Winter Slab. Good job Sir. thumb

Side Note: Seems that everyday is a Saturday since this Covid Virus came upon us. I have seen people at every place I have fished so far this year. I have seen a lot of people all of last year every time I have been out at my spots. The only places that are people free are spots that are on private property and thank god I have a bunch of those places to fish. The only good side of this is, at least they are enjoying the outdoors. coolio

Great day Steve! I have been anxiously waiting to hear how you did. I didn't get out there until a little after 2:00 and spent most of the 4 hours I had on the water playing with the livescope. Found lots of baitfish with it just not a lot of big fish that wanted to bite(probably Tilapia). Had lots of fun and hated to see the sun go down. I think the weather men got the wind wrong though! Seemed to stay about 10mph or so out of the east all the time I was there until about the last 45 minutes when i turned to glass.

You are right, most people I talked to at the ramp had a good day.

Thanks for the report.

Alan

Re: Fayette 1/26/21 - 01/27/21 04:53 AM

Good for you Steve. I was heading there and had a blowout on the passenger side trailer tire about 6:15 am on I-10. I was between Sealy and Columbus. State Police only stayed with me for around 15 minutes. I told the tow truck driver if he felt more comfortable towing my trailer to a safe place to change the tire I was ok with that. I was in the left side of the road when I was passing a truck. Must of hit something in the road and blew a tire. Going to the right side was not an option. Anyway had to wait until around 7 or so for the AAA driver to show up. Luckily it was only a blown tire and not a bearing issue. I was going to replace them next month because they were showing wear and they were 4 years old with many miles on them. I decided just to go back to Katy. Glad I did because my wheel bearings showed they needed to be replaced. Maybe next week I will make it there.

Re: Fayette 1/26/21 - 01/27/21 02:19 PM

Chuck...You are right...the great outdoors is the best place to be for sure.

Thanks Curtis, Curt & Yesenia...the year is starting out right.

Tom...Bummer...I thought I would see you out there yesterday, now I know why you were MIA. I know it won't make you feel any better, but there were 2 boats on your super secret spot almost all day...finally got to try it around 4:30 after it had been pummeled all day. Got 3 there. Hope to see you next week.

Alan...since when do we actually believe the weather folks. It is only a rough guide what they predict...especially for the wind...I usually tack on 5 mph to whatever they predict & decide if I can live with that.

Nice catch !! Especially for a blue bird day. You just never know. Glad to hear the tendonitis didn’t flair on you. Golf is bad enough but to be out of commission on both. Argh ! cry

Thanks doc...This was a "test" trip to see how long I could last. If I have to quit golf...well so be it...but if I have to give up fishing, just bury me now confused 3

Congrats Mr. Steve- So glad to see the ailment hasn't impacted your true love and calling. So happy to see your results regardless of time of year. You share the wealth of beauty by the Creator, and we thank Him. flag

Great fishing as always Vogey! Good job. woot

Side Note: You are spot on about the huge numbers of people fishing. There are still some tackle shortages ! I would add the shortages have become less and it seems that stores are getting their shipments in regularly. coolio

Curtis...The Walmart & Dicks here in New Braunfels appear to be all fully re-stocked with tackle.
