Fayette 12/8/20 (A Troutbass day) - 12/09/20 03:36 AM

Got to the lake around 9 am when it was warming up. Put in at Oak Thicket & noticed that the bathrooms were "Out of Order" OMG...Not good news... Put the boat in the water and high tailed it over to Park Prairie...when you gotta go you gotta go ! Pulled in to the docks a tad fast and busted off one of my trolling motor blades bump... Finally got out on the lake with a partially working TM...It actually did pretty well considering it only had one blade left. Water temp was mid 60s in most areas & 80 at the discharge & around 2 feet low. Now for the Troutbass report...Ended up with 106 bass & 8 sunfish. 85 of the bass were caught in one spot...not moving an inch. They were feeding on shad and were small...about the size of the trout I see in the trout reports. All caught on ultra lite with 4 lb test & on GulpAlive 1" minnows...Watermellon Pearl color. Beautiful day on the water. At one point a guy in a boat finally came over and said...Are you trying to catch one on every cast or every other cast ? roflmao [Linked Image]

Ahhhh. Fishing the secret spot I see. Glad you got into them. Sorry about the TM issues. Im going today after I get some Fayette buzzard damage fixed at the Ford dealer in Sealy. Just going to drag my boat with me to the shop and head on up from there.

Chuck...All the sunfish came in the last hour of the day...between 4 & 5 pm. I was as surprised as anyone....especially at the size.

Tom...Unfortunately, I was skunked at both of your super secret spots & my secret spots as well ! Also tried the trees where you found the bluegill last summer & was skunked there too. Did not fish there very long because it was too hard navigating around in there with a injured TM. That's why I switched to ultra lite and moved in shallow where I could stay put. All the bass I caught were in less than 2 feet of water.

The places I fish the sunfish bite as slowed down a lot. It does pick-up in the afternoon once the sun warms up the water. thumb

Well I got on the water about 10 today. Buzzard damage all repaired. Took about an extra 10 minutes to mess with the truck cover but that's just going to be part of my Fayette routine. Saw buzzards at both ramps but did not hear any air horn activity from the park people. For the record I think they are really doing a very nice job with the upkeep of the facilities but also buzzard patrol. While on the water I talked to one of the kayak guys for awhile when we were fishing the same area. It's really nice when guys like to share the water. Also ran into Alan today near the end over by the intake. Had a good conversation with him as well. I ended up with 25 fish. Half were nice Fayette fatties and the other half were Steve size trout bass. Got off the ramp right at sunset. The lake was really crowded today.

Vogey: I am up in my years. Sold my boat many years back. Back in the day I was fishing Fayette every other week. Even competed in some bass tournaments. I have very good friends I fish with who own boats. I try to fish with them at least once or twice a month during the spring, summer, and fall., This year has been tough due to the Covid Virus. I need to be very very careful. Keep up the great post. I love reading your post as well as all the others who post here. The anglers in this section have been a blessing to me.
