Fayette 11/23/20 - 11/24/20 02:46 AM

Fish were pretty active today on Fayette...Met Tomrom in the parking lot at 7 am at Oak Thicket...launched there in hopes of avoiding the buzzards....and it worked...no damage this week. I fished until 4 pm, but Tom left earlier. Most of the bigger fish came between 2 & 4 pm, which seems pretty standard for Fayette. Lake was pretty crowded until after 1 pm..I think the fish know when most people leave. clap Water temp was mid 70s in most areas of the lake & 90 at the discharge. Very foggy with light winds most of the day & very chilly til late afternoon. Ended up with around 20 bass, 2 catfish & 15-20 bluegill. Got some really nice bass today with the biggest one going a hair under 6 lbs. Caught the 2 biggest almost back to back on a Ned rig, using a 2.5" Gulp Alive minnow (black shad color) on the jig head. Also caught bass on the Tsunami swimbait & my old standby Culprit worms. Most of the bluegill were in around 10 feet of water very close to where I found them last week. The strange thing is that I caught 5 red ear this week...1st time in 2 months I have caught one of those. Tight lines... [Linked Image]

Steve. I did not leave, I went over to the other side of the lake. I fished to 5:30. I agree that the fish did not get cranked up until after 2. Most of the fish I caught were in the two lb range. Had a real hog by Fayette standards get off after I missed lipping it twice. My fault because I have a net and was to lazy to get it out. But a lot of nice fish were boated. I quit counting after 40. Let me know if you go again this week or next. I will try to show you another secret spot haha. Oh yeah, the fishing tables said it was going to be a bad day.

Thanks for the replies Pot Licker & popr...
Curtis...Dang good question ? I think we will be caching a "few"...smaller fish like the ones I have been catching but that's just a guess.
Gitter...This is, after all, the Bluegill section of the forum...so will try & post some pics if lucky enough to catch a few. I will continue to spend around 20 % of the day searching for these guys until March when the hunt goes full tilt sunfish...
