Fayette 8/24/20-Records-Made to be Broken - 08/25/20 02:13 PM
Fished Fayette yesterday with Doc (my good luck charm). Weather was totally awesome...cloudy most of the day with light winds/high around 90. Water temp was 91-92...down a few degrees from last week. Launched from Oak Thicket & observed all the improvements being made to the park...very nice...met TomRom in the parking lot...very few boats on the water this day. Like they say...records are made to be broken. We fished from 7:00 am until a little after 5 pm & ended up with 577 fish, surpassing out mark of 512 set earlier this year. The breakdown was 3 small tilapia, 1 small bass & 573 varieties of sunfish. Had several just shy of a pound. We fished mainly 6 different areas & found active fish everywhere. We did find one brand new bluegill colony that was holding a good amount of fish. I used Gulp Alive minnows (Smelt color) all day & Doc was using Gulp Alive Waxies (Chartreuse color) with a live maggot or 2 added on...both got bit equally well. We talked about the possibility of a 700 fish day & think it could be doable with a good game plan & a lot of discipline...so stay tuned...
