Rio Grande Record 10 Jun 2020 - 06/11/20 03:41 PM
A recent post mentioned not seeing many Rio Pictures lately, so Banker (Chuck) and I decided to check it out, to see if they have started biting yet. Well, let me tell you what a real fishing buddy does to help me get out of my record slump for 2020. Off we go through the thick brush where it was obvious no one has traveled since we ventured forth last year. Chuck armed with a machete cleared out a space where only one of us could fish at a time. While he set back smoking his cigar, he passed the honour to me. After a couple of dozen casts with a dink Green Sunfish or Rio on every cast, he advised me to try and plop my bait across the creek, under a low hanging tree. With reservations, I managed to get it in the right place without hanging up. My personal best Rio bit my bait of champions and WOW. 10.25 inches with a certified weight of 1.01 lb. water body, and catch and release pending record. Fishing with someone like Chuck, just don't get any better than that.
