For the trout stocking? I wanted to, but not knowing what time the trout will be stocked, I can't go till tomorrow. I have to be in Gonzales at 1:00pm. Good luck to any that are going today.

Wow! I figured it would be crowded. Hope tomorrow is the same as today. I have a couple of gold Super Dupers waiting to do their thing.

I would get there at day break. You should see em topping water. The Pond is small and shallow. There is also a lot of grass in it. Use a medium to smi-fast retrieve.

You should do very well. thumb

Fished there today with one of my buddies. Got there a little after 2pm. Both of us limited out in less than an hour using Gold Super Dupers. There were about a total 10 people fishing when we left at 4pm.

Like Chuck (BAF) said, I would try to get there at day break. A park employee told us that this upcoming weekend it will be crowded.

Side Note: Three dollar day use charge. There is also a money drop at the office for after hours use.

I finally got out to Palmetto around 12:30 pm. Had an unscheduled doctor visit for the wife. Caught 15, kept 5. Caught a bass about 2 pounds on the second cast. It was fun, and the Super Duper was the only thing they would hit. The Super Duper I used was gold with red "head". Another guy was using a solid gold and caught one fish right beside me. I guess the red made a difference. Others were using corn, fish bites, and some other baits with very little luck. I left at 2:30 due to some rude people that showed up. They would throw their lines with bobbers right across where I was fishing. Maybe ten people fishing. Got to watch a little girl about 5 or catch her first fish. Man was she excited! Wasn't what I expected, but it was fun and those little fish sure do battle. I think next "Bill's Day Off" will be somewhere in the hill country.

A bucket list item marked off.

Went back to Palmetto this morning, got there at 7:30 am and had the pond to myself. Caught 20 trout and kept 5 in a half hour. The fish were very active, dimpling the water all over the pond. I left at 8:00 am due to today being the wife's birthday.

Good job!

Side Note: You should have taken your wife. That would be a great way to spend her birthday and you could have also taken home 10 fish. wife

Glad you got some fishing time in. Always nice to get a limit of Rainbow Trout. It is twice as nice when you have a whole pond to yourself. thumb

Thanks for the comments, It is nice to get out and fish a little. Actually went again this morning, caught my limit, had the pond to myself again, all before having to rush home for a meeting this morning.

I am trying to take advantage. I can't say what is being caught during the day, but so far I have seen very few caught by the few others that I have seen. I'll give it a go every morning till it plays out. The 5 fish are just about what my wife and I will eat for a meal.

If the crowds showed up this weekend, those trout will be few and far between by Monday taz

Made another quick trip out to Palmetto today, and once again had the pond to myself. Trout were very active and didn't take long to catch a limit. Lots of short strikes, caught about 20 fish. Today may be a big day for fish catching at Palmetto, a troop of boy scouts were camped across from the pond, and the campground was full. But I will try it again tomorrow morning.

Good job on having your very own stocking pond for the past several days. Heading out each day "PAYS OFF"! Again super job.

LOL It was a private pond again this morning. Not a soul showed up but me. Still a lot of fish in the pond, A little slower bite this morning, but it was foggy and pretty dark. The Super Duper didn't do much flashing. A lot of short strikes, had to slow down even more than previous days. Got a limit plus about 15 before heading home.

Made it back to Pametto this morning , but it wasn't a private pond this time. A couple of guys were already there catching the trout.
. Banker always Fishing and Catyaker.. It was nice to meet both.. We all caught fish till about 9:00 am. I had to leave one short of a limit.

We had a great time Bill. That sure is a beautiful little park. Sure appreciate your heads up on how they were biting. With the throwbacks, Chuck and I must of caught over 20 each. cheer

One of the greatest benefits being part of a fishing forum is meeting other anglers. Bill meeting you made the trip worth while. Catching fish was a bonus. Hope to share the bank with you again along the way. thumb

Side Note: It should be noted that Bill had about five throw backs and would have easily taken home a limit. He decided to give a few trout some extra swimming time! hooked
