Cold but Worth It!

Cold but Worth It! - 11/09/19 02:46 PM

My good pals Steve and Jeff along with myself braved the northern cold wind, and rain and fished some GPS marked brush piles on a south central Texas river. It was worth it. Caught plenty of nice Bluegill,Redear, and Crappie. This latest front had already blown through and the fish were hungry and full of fight. We used Crappie Magnet Jigs. Chartreuse/Red and Chartreuse/Black got great results. We fished from about 11am till 3pm. Fished three brush piles and caught fish at all three. Fish were caught in 16 feet of water off the bottom. Most were released but a few were kept for dinner! We fished from Steve's boat and left the kayaks at home. It's going to be a cold rest of the fall and also a cold winter! woot

Great Job Curtis...Love that last photo of the GIANT crappie in the ice chest. I fished Placid on Tuesday and caught 9 bass, 7 bluegill & 3 catfish...but they were all size challenged. The biggest bass was maybe 3/4 lb. Tried for crappie around the pilings under the hwy 46 bridge, but no luck. Keep those pics coming...

Thanks Guys. So far the bite has been picking up nicely. This next up coming front can be another story. First Arctic of the season! taz This will either end or slow down the Rio bite a lot! I also think the sunnies will be heading and staying in the deeper water hide2

Side Note: The Crappie sure do like this COLD stuff! hooked

Thanks Curtis. I had a spot on Dunlap that was loaded with snails and the Redear were stacked there. thumb May be they moved further down river after the dam break. noidea
