Fishing The First Day Of Fall - 09/24/19 03:10 AM

Had to pass through Blanco for work today and decided to stop and get a line wet on the way back home. I was a little bit late for supper but it was well worth it. They were picky eaters at first, but once I found the right lure/color combination it was on. Started out with:

Yellow Panther Martin Caught 1 dink bluegill, had several follows. Switched to a

Black Roostertail with a Silver Blade Caught 1 dink bluegill and 1 decent redbreast before switching to a

Dark Green Roostertail Gold Blade Zilch, nada, nothing, so I switched to a

Chartreuse Roostertail Gold Blade Caught the following, in order:

It's amazing to me that each fish was smaller than the previous one caught. Not pictured are the handful of bass I caught, each one smaller than the previous.

Also noted, this was the first time I caught a Rio with a spinning lure. Every Rio I caught before today was on the fly rod.

Side Note: You must have just missed me and Rick aka Catyakker. We were there from about 11am till 1pm. Stopped there on the way back from the Perdernales River. thumb

Man, you're not kidding! I actually stopped on the way to Fredericksburg and it was about 5 minutes after 1! Fished for 10 short minutes and headed out to my appointment. When I got back to the Blanco it was about 3:30, and I fished until 5. How did you and Rick do today?

We did not do all that well on the Perdernales. We caught a few small Rios, some small Channel Cats and some small Bluegill. I did manage a nice Guadalupe Bass,13" ,fat, and full of fight. thumb The Blanco was much better. We caught several nice Rios ,a few nice Bluegill, and some nice Longear. Had a super nice Redbreast get off at the bank. hammer Over all a nice day of fishing. hooked

Thanks Vogey, J-Moe and Osborn for the replies. You're right Vogey, the Rio put up a heck of a fight.

Should have mentioned earlier, all the fish were released to fight another day.
