Went yesterday and was surprised how few people at Oak Thicket...10-12boats out. We picked up some Night Crawlers and headed to the dam. Our first time to try for the Gills and Rios. Used the Vogey Drop Shot and quickly started to get a bite every cast! Not very well versed on all the species we caught of Bluegills. But we had a blast...for about 2 hours and then they just quit...moved over to the old pond on the east side of the lake and just couldn't seem to find them like we did at the dam. I am interested in the Gulp Alive Minnows....I am guessing not as messy as Night Crawlers on my white boat deck. Size of minnow? Color? Where to order? Thanks for turning us on to great fishing technique!!
I have fished Fayette only twice this year. Vogey is the Bluegill Section Expert on that lake and fishes Fayette weekly. I have picked up a lot of great techniques from his post. The last time I fished Fayette was about three weeks ago and I had great results fishing the reed beds and stick ups. The dam for what I have been told also holds good numbers of nice fish including Rios. As for the Gulp Minnows I use the one inch natural color Silver/Black, or Chartreuse. Gotten great results on both colors. Easily available at a lot of sporting good stores. Acadamey,Dicks,Bass Pro,and Walmart usually carry them. You can also order them on line through either the stores or Amazon!
