A Good Day On Dunlap!

A Good Day On Dunlap! - 11/16/18 03:14 AM

Myself and Rick aka Catyakker fished Lake Dunlap today from 12noon till 3pm and the bite was "GOOD"! We caught about 50 fish with a bunch in the 7 to 9 inch range. Redbreast,Bluegill,Hybrids, and a few small bass rounded out the catch. Fish were holding close under overhanging tree limbs and by docks. Fish were in 4 to 8 feet of water. The water was clear in some areas of the river and stained in others. The current was good. Fish were caught on worms with both bottom techniques and slip float techniques being used. A very slow retrieve got the best results. All fish were released to fight again. After an afternoon of fishing we had an early dinner at Jalisco's Mexican Restaurant in Cibolo TX. Having a good day on Dunlap with the Catyakker. It just don't get any better! fish

Banker...This is real good news...glad to see a positive river report.(Thanks) Were you fishing from boat or docks ? Did you catch any red ear ? This is the time of year those big red ear usually show up ?

Thanks Vogey for the reply! cheers We were fishing form both bank and docks. Dunlap is clearing up nicely and the water is looking good. Still a little debris in the water but not bad. The fish are active. Caught one Redear about nine inches. Been catching a bunch of Redear on Mcqueeney right up till the most resent flood in early October. After the that they had been hard to find. If conditions keep on improving you should start catching some nice Redear this late fall and winter! thumb

Great seeing a good report on Dunlap! Good job guys. woot Fished Dunlap yesterday and did well. clap Will be posting a report later! partyon

Side Note: Current is still flowing kind of fast. I see the let out on Canyon Lake has been reduced . What is your take on the currents effecting the bite on the three major river lakes, Dunlap,Mcqueeney, and Placid? noidea

Thanks Curtis for the reply! Over the years I have fished the river lakes it seems to me that a medium current works best. I have never done good on the rivers when the currents are running strong. Slow to medium currents seem to work best for me. 2cents

Nice fish guys. Looks like the flow has been slower coming out of Canyon Lake. It's under 400 now. Was over 800 a couple of weeks ago. What is your winter prediction for Dunlap as far as the bite goes?
