Big Fall Stringers! - 10/05/18 11:02 PM

Fall fishing has gotten off to a GREAT START!. Plenty of nice fish are on the move trying to get fat before winter. Creeks have been very active. Myself,Rick aka Catyakker, and good friend Steve fished some South Texas creeks and the bite has been excellent. Catching plenty of Rios,Bluegill,Redear,Channel Catfish, and bass. Fish are in 2 to 6 feet of water holding by brush piles and drop offs. Ultralight spinning tackle and flyrod tackle was used. Live worms and various artificial flies were the baits of choice. Morning bite from sunup till around 11:30am stayed active. After 11:30am the bite slowed down a lot. Caught well over 75 fish each trip out. A bunch were released and a bunch were kept by Steve for the frying pan and freezer. Fall fishing some South Texas Creeks with friends. It just don't get any better! fish

Man, you're killin' me! I am so busy right now I couldn't find the time to go fishing if you stocked them in my toilet! But after Thanksgiving it will slow down just in time for trout fishing!

Great stringers! Good job guys.

Side Note: Bet all of those spots are a muddy mess or flooded. When do you think you could start fishing them again?

Re: Big Fall Stringers! - 10/27/18 11:13 AM

Thanks Gitter for the reply! All of my spots were hit hard by the rains and a lot of them have been washed out. de Most of them will not be fish able until next spring providing that there is no more flooding. nuts On the bright side the rivers, ponds, lakes, and creeks should be in great shape for next year! thumb

Nice fish guys. Fall started out GREAT but the bite was over after the flooding! Looks like a tough late fall and winter bite ahead! With the upcoming freeze I would guess the Rio bite would be officially over. Let's say you? Again nice mess of fish. Good job guys! woot

Thanks Chuck. I am also catching some straggler Rios on both Dunlap and Mcqueeney. No Rios on the creeks or smaller rivers. hide2
