Fishing Report Lady Bird Lake, Austin ! - 07/15/18 08:55 PM
Myself with two friends of mine fished this past Thursday July 12th on Lady Bird Lake in Austin. We launched at Festival Beech. We fished from 6:30am till 2pm. The bite was pretty good from about 7am till 10am and then slowed down the rest of the trip. We caught a about 75 fish between the three of us. Most of the fish were Bluegill in the 7 to 9 inch range. We had eight Bluegill that were in the 10 inch range. We fished across the lake on the south shore line across from the kayak ramp. Small crank baits,Chartreuse/Black got the best results. Fish were holding by grass beds and overhanging tree limbs in 10 to 12 feet of water. Several nice Rios,a few Redear, and a couple of bass rounded out the catch. Soft Plastics Purple and Black got good results on the Rios. The Rios were caught holding by structures in 6 to 10 feet of water. Highlight of the trip was when my friend Jeff hooked onto a carp and got about a three minute ride. The fish ended up breaking his line. All fish were caught on ultralight spinning gear and were released to fight again.
