Dunlap 5/1/18

Dunlap 5/1/18 - 05/01/18 09:12 PM

Went to Dunlap today...mainly to break in new Yamaha motor, but did manage to get a few hours fishing in. Fished from about 10:30 to 2:30 & got 2 nice catfish and around 30 bluegill. Water temp 74 to 75 degrees & pretty clear. Most of the bluegill were size challenged, but took 2 pics due to the great coloration. Fished mostly up-river around docks. Also added photo of new rig (Ranger Aluminum)...Don't look for me in the Tracker any more...traded it in...

Wow...all varieties of bluegill were very aggressive with the bite, but did not catch one red ear. How many red ear did u catch, and how big were they ?

Nice fish and a yet another nice post. Love the new boat. If you are ever back on Dunlap and see a guy peddling or rowing a green kayak with three fishing poles on a back rack, chances are that is me! Wave or stop by! woot

Laker...Yep...I look 4 u every time I am out there...have even asked a few guys... they looked at me like I was nuts when I asked if they were "laker".. Next 2 weeks I will be fishing Fayette with some old friends I haven't seen in a long time.

Banker...The Red Ear question was meant 4 u...size & numbers ?

Vogey myself and several friends of mine including Catyakker, and the Wildman of Navidad fished Dunlap a lot these past two weeks. We caught GREAT numbers of BIG Redear and Bluegill every time out. The spawn is on. Fish range from 8 to 10 inches. Three quarters of them are well over half a pound. Catching them at the lower end of Dunlap in 3 to 5 feet of water by docks. Myself and Catyakker caught over 50 today. thumb

I work 4 days on 3 days off schedule. I can only fish my three days off which are Wednesday,Thursday, and Friday! Looking at your post seems you fish during the early part of the week Monday's thru Wednesday's. Maybe one of these days I will see you out there!

I got the boat at Premier Yamaha on I35 just outside San Antonio. They are the only local Ranger dealer...
