Some Pretty Good Bluegill/Carp Action! - 02/11/18 04:17 AM

What a week it has been. Myself,Rick (Cat Yakker) and Steve fished the Guadalupe River and had some pretty good luck catching some BIG Carp and a few nice Bluegill. The Carp were caught on both Corn and Worms. The Bluegill were caught on the same. It seemed that the fish were pretty active between the cold fronts. The afternoon bite was the best! The Carp weighed between 9 to 20 pounds. The Bluegill were in the 7 to 9 inch range. The Carp were all released and the Bluegill were kept for the frying pan or smoker! Getting in a GOOD week of fishing with some pretty good anglers and friends. It just don't get any better! fish

Thanks Kelly for the reply. Yes Sir those Carp are some drag pullers for sure! Those Bluegill on ultralight are not bad either. thumb

Side Note: When is the best time for Bluegill on Texana?

To be honest I'm not really sure. I've never specifically targeted them.

Nothing beats listening to the drag scream on a double digit Carp. Trying to Control, or even gain line, on a large fish using light/medium action spinning gear with 10 Lb. line can be a real heart thumper. I have caught a number of Reds out of a Kayak, and I can attest Carp are very much equal in fight. Banker is a true sportsman and great fisherman and I feel very fortunate to have been able to fish with him.

Can't wait until them Carp fish get over there love making. You sure don't want to lay your pole down without opening your bail. Seen more than one pole disappear because of a vicious Carp bite. eek Now, Big Sunfish on light tackle is a whole bunch of fun too. grin Sure hope Cibolo creek clears up soon.
