Usually fry, but sometimes bake if we're feeling like a healthier meal.

Does anyone here grill them? Directly on the rack or wrapped in foil? I want to start trying this for another healthier method.

I have grilled sunfish a lot over the years and they are GREAT! grill I have wrapped them in foil and have put foil over the grill after spraying Pam over the foil. Best grill results are putting your fish in a grill holder. Grilling is a great way to prepare fish. food

No doubt putting a sunfish directly on the grill plates is a recipe for a fish that falls apart. Once that meat gets hot, it so easily falls off the fish and/or sticks to your grill plates. I used to have fish baskets, but I couldn't find them this last time I grilled, so I went right on the grill plates, and that was a bit of a mistake. I also don't enjoy picking the meat off the bones.

My preferred way is just a mess of filet with the pin bones cut out, and fry them bad boys.

If you do anything but roll those babies in corn meal and throw them in the grease, you should have your license suspended until you come to your senses.. LOL

My favorite is in the oven, butter, seasoning, wrapped in foil.
