Do yall think a 1999 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4.0L 2WD will pull a 17-18ft bass boat with a 150???

Probably about 5,000 lbs there with the trailer and gear. It'll pull it but I'd baby the thing at all times. Not sure I'd count on it doing for a few years either. That engine / tranny is 13 years old after all.

You're squeezing where it hurts.

If that Jeep has the towing package ( 3.73 gear, tranny fluid cooler, etc.) it'll be fine. That 4.0 litre engine is nearly bulletproof if you take care of it. I'm on my 3rd Jeep since 1988. The current one is a 97 G.C. 4X4 with the 4.0, "Up-country" suspension, towing package and skid plate group (which are heavy) with 230K miles on the same engine and tranny. It's not going to win any races pulling that boat, but it can and will, provided you have the 3.73 rear end and aux. cooler.

I think your weak links in that model is that particular tranny and also your rear springs. If you can find some "up-country" springs for it, you'll be happier.

I had a JGCherokee when I had a 20 ft. Redfin CC with a 150. It did okay but you get much over 70 with it and the trailer had a tendency to fish tail. I hauled it over to Erath County and getting up Ranger Hill was a hard time for the Jeep.
