Ford Maverick

Anyone pulling a bass boat with a Ford Maverick? Interested in the towing capabilities. Specifically the fwd hybrid

Max towing capacity is 4000# and the hybrid is only 2000#. Gonna have to be a small bass boat.

I just read an article about the Maverick and the towing capacity was weigh below the Ranger. You could probably get by towing a small Bass Tracker type boat.

Probably better to use a 1970maverick.

Worth more than a new one, better looking too.

I got a Ranger Tremor last year. Towing is 7000#. 2.3 4banger turbo. Gets about 20-22 until I hook up the 16' crappie boat. That little 4 banger and 10 so tranny fall flat and mpg drops to 13-15. I'd hate to see mpg towing my 21' bass rig. There's no substitute for cubic inches.

Most godawful excuse for a truck since the Honda Ridgeline. In what world is a "truck" that small needed. Build another dang El Camino. At least those were cool

Those are a nice looking package. At least it gets decent mileage. My Tundra drinks gas. 9.9 average. That’s a 10 mile round trip to work, no trailer, and average around 250-300 miles per weekend towing a 20ft heavy bass boat.

As long as people remember that the vehicle will NEVER get the window sticker estimated MPG, it’s not a big deal.

The new Rangers are almost the same size as my 93 Lightning I had. Same for the GM small trucks. They aren’t much smaller that an 80’s-90’s full size truck. Current full sized trucks are really pretty damn big.

The reason midsized trucks such as the Ranger, Tacoma, Colorado ect. are as big as they are is to beat the CAFE guidelines. Part of vehicle mileage standards is their footprint. The vehicles wheelbase in length and width. It’s also part of the reason the Maverick is as small as it is.

Come tow with my 4.0l 4runner. You'll change your mind on that one. 20mpg is a pipe dream with Toyota.

I had an 86 Toyota one ton. Same size as the regular long bed truck but it was sprung for big weights.
The 5 speed transmission was geared slightly lower in top gear but it was still rated 27 mpg highway and got about that unloaded. With the 22RE 4 banger it pulled decent for what it was. I pulled 17-19 foot Rangers with it and got around 17 mpg pulling.

After 240k miles and 14 years I traded it in on a Dodge diesel.

I don't know Allison, I think I'd want a little more power but I'm sure it did sip the fuel.

Toyota 22RE = 105hp/137tq @2800rpms
Ford 2.3l turbo = 270hp/310tq @3000rpms
Toyota 4.0l = 270hp/278tq @4400rpms

I went from a 2016 Toyota Tacoma 4x4 V6 getting 10 MPG towing my bay boat to 2023 2500HD 6.6L gas...Love the mileage!...5 MPG better than the toyota tacoma V6...

I like my 2021 Ranger. It pulls my 18’ Lowe 1860 aluminum boat just fine. A Maverick could probably pull it around town and to the boat ramp too, but I’ll stick with the Ranger.

The Ranger has a surprising amount of acceleration. I get an average of 20 mpg in my mixed driving. I like it much better than the Tacoma I owned for years.

The 2021 Ranger is much much better than the 1993 Ranger I owned. The 1993 was a fun little truck too.

I owned a Ford Ranger for 3 months. When my BIL had me help him move, and I couldn’t keep up with his Volkswagen bus, I was beyond mad. I traded it in on a Lightning when I got back to Dallas. First and last little truck experience for me. I can’t willingly spend money in a dog truck again.

I don’t know what you were hauling or pulling, but my Ranger fits my work and play lifestyle just fine. I am aware of its limitations and don’t expect more. You can’t compare a Ranger to a Lightning.

My dad called these sissy trucks back in the 70's. The one with the little eco boost seems to be solid but the hybrid version is having some serious issues with the CVT, always why its best to wait a few years before buying a new model, let them work the bugs out.

I'm still disappointed US don't have option of diesel Ranger. Have been impressed with international Rangers with it. But then again, I don't know their tow capacity, but seemed very efficient and solid.

They go great with a lawn mower trailer or a jet ski trailer. Lol

Which is probably what a large portion of the population need them to do. Or you could be a tard and spend ungodly sums on a hugely inefficient vehicle for no other reason than some chick thinks your sticker might peck out a little further till she finds out it don’t lol

Or you could just drive a truck. A real truck. Not lifted. No aftermarket [censored] wheels. Something adequate for the job that can safely pull a real boat without putting you, and everyone around you, in danger.

It ain’t always about dick size. It’s about the right tool for the job.

The more people that drive small efficient vehicles the less strain there will be on gas supplies. So I I say good on Ford and the people driving mavericks._
