Windshield tint & inspection

Windshield tint & inspection - 07/29/19 05:26 PM

The rules state 5" or not below AS1 line if there is one. I seriously doubt my AS1 line is 5" from the top of the windshield. If I stuck to the rule it would not even be worth having the tint. Mine is about 1" to maybe 1-1/2" below the AS1 line. Getting inspection on Friday. I am thinking to just go ahead and try before I trim it up. Anyone else tested the process with windshield tint?

It will probably pass if the guy isn't newbie.

I've never had anyone say anything about a windshield strip.

Some of mine have been in the 4" range and others closer to 6" and nothing has ever been said.

I have always added one because this is Texas, where the sun lives.

No inspector ever cared.

I have been getting my inspections at the same quick lube in Rockwall for close to 20 years. Same little roung man has been there forever. I swear the dude's height and waist measure the same.

Mine failed when I was about 1” below the AS line. Tried to take it somewhere else and I guess they mark your car/truck in the system. First thing he asked before starting he said did you correct the tint issues? Ended up peeling it off so I could pass.
