Toyota Highlander

Any one using a Toyota Highlander to pull a 19' to 20' boat? Shows 5000# tow rating.

FWD I would not do it except for short trips.

You have to have the tow package to get that rating I think. IIRC, it's a receiver hitch and transmission cooler.

I agree with SJ that it would be fine if you live 5 minutes from the ramp. I wouldn't make frequent, long trips towing with it. If you go fishing every weekend and you're an hour from the ramp, then I'd get something else. FWD alone is less than ideal. The suspension, brakes, etc. are just as much of a concern.

Thanks for the opinions. They are selling a model with AWD all wheel drive. Don't know if that has any pluses.
